Cape North is a small village located on the northeast shoulder of Cape Breton Island in Victoria County. Cabot Trail runs through Cape North as well, making the town a popular stop and tourism market. Cape North derives its name from a cape of the same name. By the start of the 20th century, Cape North had already constructed two saw mills, as lumber was the most commanding industry in Cape North. Cape North is located 181 km (112.5 mi.) northwest of Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Cape North is home to the North Highlands Community Museum, an interpretive centre that delves into the history of the early settlers, genealogy and various other intriguing exhibits.
